Concert for a Cure
Under the musical leadership of Maestro Gilles Auger, I Medici di McGill perform music by Wolfgang A Mozart, featuring Kyoko Hashimoto, piano, at a concert organized by Epilepsy Canada.
Under the baton of Maestro Gilles Auger, I Medici di McGill perform an all-Mozart program, featuring soloist Kyoko Hashimoto in Piano Concerto 23. Also on the program is the greatly admired Symphony no. 40, and the Overture of Cosi fan tutte. Proceeds of the concert will benefit epilepsy research in Canada.

Epilepsy Canada, a registered Canadian
charity, is dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with epilepsy. Through financial support of research, Epilepsy
Canada strives to help the Canadian neurology community find a cure. Before the concert, Dr. Elsa Rossignol, CHU Ste-Justine, one of
several beneficiaries of funding in Quebec, will give a 15 minute “TED-like”
talk about the state of epilepsy research and treatment.

30th Season I Medici di McGill Orchestra of the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University Drawn from a talented pool of doctors, students, medical faculty, colleagues and friends, the orchestra brings a unique artistic and social dimension to medical education and the medical profession. In 1989, the orchestra was founded by Dr. Ante L. Padjen with an aim to reinforce the study of the humanities at the faculty. I Medici di McGill ensemble is distinctive as an institution at the University, perhaps the only organized activity at the University that brings over 65 staff, students, alumni and friends together for regular social interactions and community outreach and support, such as this special concert.
Maestro Gilles Auger, Conductor and Music Director Born in Quebec City, Gilles Auger is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School of Music (New York) and a student of the late Leonard Bernstein. He is currently a conductor and teacher at the Quebec Conservatory and music director of the Lévis Symphony Orchestra.
Kyoko Hashimoto, piano Born in Tokyo Japan, pianist Kyoko Hashimoto has performed in more than 25 countries and is now a professor and Chair of Piano Section at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. She studied at Indiana University and at the Julliard School. Her teacher, Gyögy Sebök described Kyoko Hashimoto’s “extraordinary musical talent” as “one of the finest of her generation”.
